Great time on the tour. As the sun went down the fun began. You could see the water lighting up from the paddles and even under the boat. The fish swimming away looked very cool too. Great knowledgeable guide and my group only had three and one of the staff offered to be in my boat so I wouldn’t be alone. 10/10
We had such an amazing experience kayaking the bioluminescent Bay with Mosquito BioBay Tours. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, one person in my party has a disability and everyone was so helpful! Each of them were constantly taking extra care of him without even being asked. We appreciated this more than they’ll ever know. Everyone on their staff was so kind and knowledgeable. I would book with them again anytime! 10/10 amazing
Best experience ever! A bucket list item! The staff treated us just like family. The driver Alex is amazing! Mayra will win your heart! Ian closed with a detailed tour of interesting facts. We were not rushed. Fully bilingual and you can tell the team is happy to meet you. This company invests in their employees because they are happy! My family and I loved it so much that we are going back! Thank you Mosquito Bay Tours for recruiting the best team and delivering a wonderful experience!
The bioluminescence desrves 5 stars but company has lots of improvements to do
1. Transportation to viequez was not included. It was around 6 hours of just being on the road from old San juan to ferry terminal, wait time there, drive to mosquito beach to the meeting point. Then another 2.5 hrs of going back to hotel.
2. We booked a tour for 6:45 pm because it's the last booking before last ferry, it was almost a new moon... yet, it wasn't dark enough so obviously the 6:45 pm tour is too early.
2. Please implement a 1 min briefing, in elglish, like, where to put valuables, where to get changed, where we are going, how much time we have to interact with bioluminescence (take pics, etc), will we get wet completely etc
2. We dive on a school bus for another 20 min to the spot where we were given kayaks, got briefed on how to paddle and started paddling.
We paddled for about 20 min, but it's still wasn't dark enough. My frst pic was time stamped at 7:33 pm in the beginning of kayaking, it was still daylight. Then we turned around and paddled back. By that time it was getting darker and I could finally see the beautiful magical blue light started to form. It was mesmerizing....! Unfortunately we had to get out of the water because the next group needed our kayaks. The last picture was taken at 7:53 pm so total of just 20 min . INCLUDING TIME WE WERE PADDLING!
3. We got out of the bus and I didnt even have time to change my wet clothes, I felt quite rushed throughout the whole tour. I didnt have time to take good photos because I had to constantly paddle because we weren't stopping.
Had we booked a tour later than 6:45 pm, we had to stay overnight there but the overall experience would have been so much better.
So, no matter how perfect weather conditions can be, the 6:45 tour participants should prepare to be disappointed and if you book 6:45 tour with this operator then the total time to actually enjoy this magic will be reduced to 4-5 min
It was amazing! Everything was very well organized, from the beginning to the complete return. Glass bottom kayaks are absolutely safe and easy to control. If someone tells you that they easily capsize and are dangerous, do not believe them! This is exactly what another tour operator tried to dissuade us, explaining why they do not use glass bottom boats. We did not believe them and took a tour from Mosquito Biobay Tour. If you take precautions and do not lean together on one side, the kayak will not capsize. Be prepared for the fact that they will be wet inside from the water that has gotten in and your shorts will be completely wet. You leave your shoes on the shore and sit in the kayak barefoot. The excursion lasts 1.5 hours. Of these, you spend about 50 minutes on the water in kayaks with glowing plankton. We were doubly lucky, because in the middle of the trip it started to rain heavily on the water. And it was an incredible sight with an 8D effect! Just magic on the water from every falling drop! We were completely wet, but surprisingly happy. Thanks to the organizers for such a discovery! I recommend everyone to visit this miracle of nature with this tour. We tried to take a video and photos on the phone (iPhone 15 pro max). It does not convey the entire effect of the glowing plankton seen. Neither the flash nor other functions of the phone allow to sow such beauty. Apparently, you need a special video camera for night shooting. Keep this in mind if you want to capture what you saw as a keepsake.
