Not my 1st Rodeo at Caribe Hilton but this time, since I had a better room with a balcony and a view, it was much better. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very friendly staff. It was almost midnight and the atmosphere was "PARTY". After the horrible flight we had, it was welcomed. The pools were beautiful, although one of the 3 pools seemed to have a filter that was not working ( lots of bugs in the pool) the main pool with the bar was great! The service and staff are wonderful. The only thing that was disappointing ( no fault of Caribe Hilton) was that there was barely any beach left. The beach at the property seemed to have shrunken tremendously. I was looking forward to looking for shells. Anyway, other than that, the location is fantastic, the facilities were clean amd the staff was friendly. Love it
The good: Location is PERFECT; amenities are terrific. Nightlife is lively and the bar stays open very late. Food at the bar was so good. Pools were pretty and the ocean view spectacular. The staff was amazing all the way around. Comfortable mattresses and pillows.
The bad: on top of the room fee you also have to pay $25 per day for parking; $50 per day for "resort fee". We booked through a third party site and apparently that means no free breakfast- the continental breakfast was $29.99 per person. It just wasnt worth it for what you got on the buffet. The rooms, while nice, were dated- peeling on the bath tub and rust on the balcony rails.
Overall, would still recommend due to the good outweighing the bad but be aware of the additional $75 a night you will be spending.
I stayed five nights. I thought the hotel was great. The room was comfortable and spacious. The hotel has good service from arrival to departure. It's not overpriced. It looks very well maintained. It is a Hilton so there is an element of quality that is expected. The prices at the hotel and surrounding restaurants are affordable to make a vacation fun without breaking the bank.
I stayed here due to the Hilton name and had higher expectations for paying over $300+ a night . I was expecting 4-5 stars and got 3 stars.
Place is gorgeous yes but lots of things wrong. Room had walls all chipped of paint/ scuffed walls and lots of areas where it was not dusted or cleaned. (Gross)
The beach area can be nice but trash in the sand/ grounds and I noticed several outdoor furniture were ripped or beyond broken ! The hammock was usable but ripped. The pool was gorgeous but could use a good day of emptying and cleaning. The main water fountain when you walk to pool area was broken and tiles cracked which doesn’t give a good first impression when walking to the area.
To get into the pool area, they need to scan double bracelet and check your bags, I rather they go around the property to clean and pick up trash to keep grounds tidy than scan pool bracelets or even someone just maintaining the grounds.
Location - is perfect with tons of Ubers available . Little restaurants steps away for morning breakfast and coffee. No need to rent a car. Ubers were under $5 a ride ! Less than 10 minutes to old San Juan and el morro.
On site stores- ice cream shop , starbucks and 2 souvenir shops on site with several expensive restaurants on site and bar in lobby.
Staff - everyone I met was very kind and respectful. I cannot complain there .
On Wednesday and Saturdays you can ask concierge desk for food to feed the ducks and fish which we loved !
Overall, nice hotel that needs some paying attention to details and maintenance. Not sure who dropped the ball here but do better when people are paying over $300 a night to stay !
Lastly - don’t bring your dog if you are going to let it piss on the floor , see it and continue walking as you watch people step on it thinking it’s water . Filthy dog owners .
We were concerned with my wife about the bad reviews, but I think are not fare with the real thing. The room we had on the fifth floor felt very nice and new furnished. The pool is awesome and the beach might be almost the perfect sport for pictures and just feeling relaxed. The GYM feels new or recently renovated. The staff is friendly and we felt very well attended. Is a very good place for vacations for the price. In the San Juan area there is no best hotel for the price for just enjoying the Caribbean beaches.
