Mold, Filthy Mattress, and Rude Manager – Worst Hotel Stay Ever!! During our stay at the Fajardo Inn (May 3–6, 2025) we discovered mold inside both nightstands (see photos). I have asthma and coughed throughout the trip, once I saw the mold, I understood why. This is a serious HEALTH HAZARD that no hotel should expose guests to. Once we saw the mold, we checked the bed more carefully and were horrified to find the mattress stained yellow with hairs on it. It was absolutely disgusting and made it clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. The problems didn’t stop there. Our door key constantly stopped working, forcing us to walk a full 10 minutes each way to the front desk to get replacements, sometimes even in the middle of the night. This was both exhausting and unsafe. The Wi-Fi did not work, there was no hair dryer, no instructions for the safe, and the lighting was unpleasant. Amenities were misleading: the pool bar was closed, and the only open restaurant was overpriced and served very low-quality food. Also, you’ll be eaten alive by the amount of mosquitoes in this place. At the pool, staff searched our bags and told us we could not bring in our own water or anything at all. They even refused to let our friends bring water for their baby. The only way to have water was to buy it from the front desk that you have to walk around and up the hill. Never in my life have I been told I could not bring water to a pool. In the Puerto Rico heat, this is not just unreasonable, it is dangerous. On the day before checkout, loud construction started right outside our room with no warning. It completely ruined our day when we were trying to relax. When we tried to get help, we were lied to repeatedly about where the manager was, and when I finally reached the acting manager by phone, she was dismissive and then hung up on me. On our last day, we spoke directly with the manager, Mary Bell Lopez. She was rude and unprofessional, told us that since we booked through a third party it was not her problem, and then walked away without apologizing for the mold, the mattress, or anything else. Later, when Chase Travel (our booking platform) called multiple times for a refund, the hotel denied it and refused to answer their phones. Between the mold, filthy mattress, broken keys, unsafe pool policies, construction noise, dishonest staff, and refusal to take accountability (especially by manager Mary Bell Lopez), this place is nothing short of a SCAM. We left feeling unsafe, disrespected, and cheated. For over $200 a night, this was outrageous. I strongly urge travelers: avoid this hotel at all costs. Puerto Rico has far better, safer, and more honest places to stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Fajardo Inn!! It was so beautiful, a really lovely family style room with space for all 6 of us to enjoy comfortably, & so many great amenities! Staff was very friendly & the beaches were a quick drive away! We loved the great accessibility, resort experience and beautiful views for an excellent price!

Didnt stay at the hotel but did the resort pass you the pool facilities and they were AMAZING! The 4 stars is because i think the bird area could be more taken care of with better visibility to the birds. Also has mini gold which is great!

I had the most incredible two-night stay at the Fajardo Inn! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and full of local flair. The entire atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, and the service was top-tier. This was hands down one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to return!

The audacity of the way they run this place! They charged us an extra $100 for our 3 day stay when they saw we brought a child. They were rude to us and absolutely not kid-friendly here. When we had a down day and spent it at this "resort", everything went wrong... They had loud construction taking place near our room, and none of us could take a nap. They have a rule posted that you cannot bring any food or drink to the pool area. When we went to visit the pool area, the security guard stopped us to SEARCH OUR BAGS and ask us where we got our beverages. I guess the idea is that we have to buy stuff from their bar or store, which is understandable, however they have multiple restaurants on the property and their bar at the pool, and all of them were closed. It is not clear if they only close these properties during low occupancy seasons or year-round, but either way it is completely unacceptable and clearly false advertising. The quality of our room was sub-par. the kitchen sink faucet was really loose and flimsy and felt like it was going to break every time I had to use it. They provided no water so we had to buy water each night. The room keys barely work. If you put those key cards near anything even slightly magnetic, they do not unlock the door. So you will be going back and forth to the front desk to get them fixed just so you can get back into your room. I think they are just very cheap and old battery powered and they are waiting for them to totally stop working before replacing their batteries. But this means the door locks are really just barely working. We were in room 308. Our friends were staying in the room next to ours, and they had black mold growing inside their room in an exposed crawl space under their bed!! Whenever we went to talk to management about the issues, the "manager" was very rude to us. We paid for this reservation with chase travel using our points and we are in the process of getting our points back.
