My experience with Dr. Omar Torres’ office has been extremely disappointing. I had a scheduled appointment that was rescheduled and canceled multiple times because Dr. Torres frequently travels to his office in New York. Despite having patients booked months in advance here in Puerto Rico, he cancels appointments without consideration for the time and effort patients invest. It shows a complete lack of respect and commitment to his patients. I was also charged $150 as a “deposit” before my appointment, but I was never informed that it was reimbursable. The communication system in his office is terrible—you are transferred to a call center that cannot assist you or connect you with the actual office secretaries in Puerto Rico. There is no accountability, and staff communication is very poor. It is extremely frustrating to see a doctor cancel appointments months in advance and not provide proper solutions or accommodations. Patients take their health and time seriously, but unfortunately, Dr. Torres and his office do not. I would not recommend Dr. Omar Torres to anyone. The lack of professionalism, respect, and care for patients is unacceptable.

Refuse to go back. The "doctor" who saw me screwed up my skin test sample and seemed inarticulate. Incompetent. I will simply never go back since I have no faith, trust in this new group of dermatologists. Too bad, the location is great. I think they are trying to manage the business from Miami?

Omar is the best dermatologist

Dr. Omar Torres is very good, and the secretaries and staff are very attentive. But they have a big problem: if something happens to you, as a patient, you have no communication with the office. I've called more than eight times in two weeks for a post-op prescription the doctor sent, but it didn't arrive, and I can't get it. They answer me in Colombia and tell me they'll forward the message to the office so they can contact me. My problem is that I live two hours from San Juan. And this is becoming a serious problem.

Although the doctor who treated me was excellent, the office equipment is poor. He gave me a prescription with refil. When I went to get the refill, the pharmacy stated that insurance did not cover them because there was no notice that I would need this medication on an ongoing basis. I was told that I would need a new prescription or that the doctor would have to provide the information to the insurance company. I called the doctor's office that Monday morning. They do not have a direct line and work with an automatic answering service. They told me they would call me back. On Wednesday morning I called again and they said they would call me back. On Friday morning I called again. This time because I couldn't hang up unless I spoke to a supervisor or someone who could contact my doctor's office. Due to distance, office hours, and other issues, I was not able to go directly to the office. Finally, on Friday afternoon I received a call from the office. There was no apology for the lack of response. They told me I would have to go pick up the prescription in person. When I asked if they could contact the insurance company to clarify the matter, they told me that would be of no use. However, when I spoke to the insurance company, they told me they only needed the doctor's approval. While the woman in the office was telling me this, another man came on the call, speaking over the woman, to tell me that my medication was one of the cheapest ($60) without insurance and that it was my problem to deal with the insurance company. The staff showed a complete lack of empathy and customer service. While the doctor is excellent, the staff prevents me from returning.
