One of my favorite restaurants in San Juan!! All the food was fresh and delicious full of flavor. Definitely one of the places I will come back to when I am in San Juan.
Stopped in here on our way to dropping off our SIXT rental car before heading to the the Airport. I wanted to pick up a CUBANO Sandwich to before going to the airport (prices are much higher there). I noticed due to the location of Isla Verde Beach and the hotels Las Canarias would be a good choice for tourists to come here and the reason the signs were in english. While waiting for the CUBANO we also had a coffee since it was pouring outside. The CUBANO was pretty good and will probably stop in here in the future and the prices are reasonable due to the location.
We stopped here before our flight. The ladies that took my order were okay. I ordered a club sandwich no bacon, empanadas, and a breakfast platter. My food came and I thought I checked it because I saw they put tomatoes on their that wasn’t ripped, but clearly I didn’t check it too well. I was in a rush to get to the airport for our flight, so half blame on me.
I repeated to the cashier 3 times NO BACON! I ordered the food to have for later for my child. We got home hours later (that night) opened it again, and the bacon was there hiding between the bread and turkey. I had to pick around to what wasn’t touching the bacon as we don’t eat pork AT ALL!! Money wasted because I couldn’t salvage much.
Las Canarias Cafe is hands down the best breakfast spot in San Juan! The ‘Gran Canarias’ breakfast is phenomenal, packed with flavor and perfectly cooked every time. The empanadas are a must-try—crispy on the outside and deliciously filled. The coffee is rich and smooth, the perfect start to any morning. But what truly sets this place apart is the warm, attentive service that makes every visit feel special. Thank you for delivering an amazing experience, Las Canarias Cafe I can't wait to come back next time I visit Puerto Rico!
This place is conveniently located, makes some pretty good food, but has some health and safety concerns. They have two grills within 1 inch of each other. As they were toasting bread on one, one of the employees (a man with glasses) started spraying some cleaning product ON THE GRILL right next to the one with the bread. It was so toxic you could smell it in the whole restaurant and they other employees walked away and covered their mouths and noses. I went over to let them know you can’t do that. They looked at me like I was crazy. They said it’s the one next to it not the one with the bread. Im like it’s close enough to it. I asked them to please throw the bread away (I didnt care that I already had my order - no one deserves contaminated food) and after several minutes of going back and forth they did. I am terrified to think what happens in the kitchen. I will not be coming. The risk is too high.
