Last day in Puerto Rico and so glad my friend discovered this panederia. While the wait was long for the food, it was worth it. We grabbed it to go and really I can’t describe how delicious everything was (aside from the cafe con leche, my friend loved hers but me and another friend agreed it wasn’t good; tasted like the end of the pot). I had the jamón, queso y huevo (ham, cheese and egg) sandwich, pastelillos de guayaba (guava pastries) and the quesitos (cream cheese filled pastry stick). It was all sooooo good. The pastries: Rich, creamy, flaky and scrumptious (prepare to have sticky fingers 😂), the breakfast sandwich: tasty and savory. 😋 🤤
This tiny bakery has been serving up delicious breads, pastries and coffee in Santurce for over 100 years. Don't come expecting fast service - the pace here is unhurried. The real reward comes when you bite into one of their creations. The bread is outstanding, with a perfect crust and light, airy interior. And the coffee is rich and robust.
But the true star is the mayorca, a sweet, eggy bread with a brioche-like texture. La Jerezana's version is perfection - light as air yet indulgently buttery, with just the right amount of sweetness.
The service is warm and friendly. The prices are reasonable. In a city with no shortage of excellent bakeries, La Jerezana is a revered institution.
Even that they aren’t the fastest ones. I considered a good lunch experience. The sandwich tasted good and was a nice portion. They have A/C and a small parking lot.
The Sandwich was good. Don't rush and expect to get fast service here just be patient and get what you need. The price for what you are getting is worth the time. Not saying this is a bad place I'll go again and recommend it for budget traveler.
We stopped here straight from the airport. We needed coffee and food (breakfast) after our early flight.
The pastries were amazing, we recommend it all! If you’re planning to make sandwiches while you stay, highly recommend getting a loaf of bread here! We got some breakfast sandwiches and ham & cheese sandwiches along with the pastries and coffee all of it was beyond delicious! So fresh and definitely felt like a local joint.
Inside was simple counter seating. Again, felt local and authentic—just what we wanted as an intro to PR.
