La Panoteca is like that date that looks full of chemistry in the photos, but turns out painfully dull in person. The pastries are so gorgeous you almost feel guilty eating them… I tried a danish and a pain suisse that looked straight off a magazine cover, but quickly learned that beauty doesn’t always come with flavor. Not everything that glitters is gold. The “Cumplido” fell short of its name, and the iced mocha became my plan B—at least it treated me with some dignity. The only thing that truly won me over was the ham beurre sandwich: solid size, solid flavor, like the hero that shows up in the final scene. Service definitely has room to grow. To make things more fun, only three people are allowed inside to order, giving the place a weird VIP-club vibe and leaving everyone else in line outside. Here, patience isn’t just suggested—it’s mandatory, and if you’re in a rush, don’t even bother. Oh, and if you do manage to snag a table outside, be ready to wipe it down yourself; on the bright side, there’s parking right out front and they take contactless payments—which, ironically, ended up being the smoothest part of my entire visit.
The lemon curd needs inprovement. I was the most excited for this one because I love a good lemon pastrie but it was a let down. You're not supposed to taste the egg in the curd. But overall, the pastries were delicious. The rollo de chocolat was by far the most intricate, well thought out pastrie I've had in a long time. The chocolate is dark and rich, balanced with the sweetnest and cest of the orange and the subtle spice of chile with just a hint of sea salt around the edges. Truly, wonderful. The coffee was not falling behind either, I tried one with spices and it was very delicious. I would definitely recomend this place and visit again myself.
Full disclosure: the head chef is my friend, but I can confidently say this…
Some of the best artisan bread I’ve ever had. Fresh bread and pastries made daily with passion. Bread crafted for the love and art of baking. From traditional bread to funky, modern takes, Panoteca won’t let you down. What a vibe! ⚡️
Got a pastry, a loaf of sourdough and a bagel. Pastry was insanely good, great lamination and the sourdough is also very very nice. Bagel slightly less of a hit for me- the beetroot on it doesn’t go so well in my opinion, but the cream cheese with herbs was great
A completely disappointing experience. First, the service was terrible with no empathy! Second, the way they package the pastries is awful. I do not recommend it.
