My family and I visited this beach for the first time, and overall it was a great experience. It has a beautiful blue shoreline with a cove-like area full of rocks where you can swim and snorkel. Just be careful there were a lot of sea urchins in the water. When you first walk in, it's a bit rocky and covered in algae, and the rocks can be very slippery (we had to sit and slide down carefully in places!).
The beach wasn't too crowded, which made it really enjoyable. There are food vendors along the shore selling food and drinks, which was really convenient. To get a good spot, it's best to arrive early. The water did have a bit of a pull, so be mindful when swimming. Aside from that, it was a really nice beach and a fun day overall!
Oh my gosh! Awesome day here. Water was so nice. Fish were colorful. Entering the water is super slippery! Being water shoes. Stay away from the water opening when the tide is going out. The rocks are very sharp on the beachside. So fun. They have vendors with food and drinks. Bring cash for the cheap refillable drinks. And. Don’t take the cute dog. It’s a man that loves there. Easy parking.
Mar Chiquita delivers big on simple beauty. Quite serene. It wasn’t crowded, but there were a fair amount of cars here, some people making a little too much noise with karaoke style truck/car parked.
A Hidden Paradise – Mar Chiquita Beach, Puerto Rico
Mar Chiquita Beach is an absolute gem on the northern coast of Puerto Rico! This breathtaking spot offers stunning ocean views, golden sand, and a unique natural pool protected by limestone rock formations. The contrast between the powerful waves crashing against the rocks and the serene, shallow pool area makes this beach truly special.
One of the best parts is the calm, enclosed pool—perfect for kids to splash around safely while adults relax and take in the scenery. The water is crystal clear, and the surrounding landscape feels like something out of a postcard. It’s a fantastic spot for photos, sunbathing, or simply enjoying nature’s beauty.
While there aren’t many amenities on-site, that only adds to the untouched, natural feel of Mar Chiquita. Bringing your own snacks, drinks, and shade is a good idea for a comfortable visit. If you’re in Puerto Rico, this beach is a must-see! A perfect mix of adventure and relaxation in one stunning location.
The beach is a small cove as you can see in the pictures surounded by what appears to be volcanic rocks protecting the beach from the harsh ocean's waves. There are some locals that sell some food and beverages and porto potties. It is worth the trip which is awa from the tourist crowds.
