Unbeatable views but sadly unplayable greens.
The views are amazing and the setting is unbeatable, but the course conditions left much to be desired.
The greens were covered with sand, which should have been in the neglected bunkers.... And, the course overall had poor drainage.
Good for "vacation golf", but the avid golfer would be disappointed.
Played both courses The Palms and The Flamboyan. The palms is much better and is still only a $79-$99 course. At $220 per person it’s overpriced. Greens are mid condition, mostly slow rolling around 8 on the stimp. Flamboyan should close until greens are improved. This should be a $59-$79 course. At $220 it’s armed robbery to charge this much. These greens are trash with 20-25% that are bare dirt. Don’t bother using a rake in the bunkers, the sand is like a dirt road in Mexico, hard, compact and rocky. No sand has been added since the island was discovered. First round on the Palms, we did see the beverage cart 3 or more times. At the Flamboyan we saw her once on the 17th tee. Also while playing holes 2 through 8 around 11:00am the maintenance crew cut fairways and roughs right as we played. 1 or them did have enough sense to idle down his machine while we played past, all the others could care less. Overpriced, waste of a beautiful property to allow this condition. Find another option if you’re looking for top caliber golf in this area.
If I could give more stars, I would!! I have played several courses in PR and this club is by far my favorite!! Didn't get to play the Flamboyan course yet but the Palms course was absolutely beautiful!! The course is so well taken care of. Fairways and greens were in immaculate shape. The Palm side is the first course they built and is not as challenging as Flamboyan. However for the average golfer, I feel this course is perfect. Plenty of wide fairways with beautiful rolling hills, surrounded by absolutely beautiful scenery. There is plenty of challenges that make your round so much fun. It has its share of big fairway and greenside bunkers as well as some beautiful, long, dog-leg par 5s. There are just the right amount of water hazards too. The property is absolutely stunning and very well maintained. The pro shop staff, the cart staff, and the rangers were all assets to this country club! All were friendly, courteous, and informative. They looked after our every need and made our visit that much more enjoyable. It's the little things that make a big difference in customer service and here they hit all the point and think of everything.
Can't wait to come back and hopefully it will be a longer stay next time. If you are looking for a top notch country club and a beautiful golf course while you are in PR then try Palmas Athletic Club, you will not be disappointed!
A bit pricey for the course, but I understand it's pretty exclusive for PR and they do charge a rider fee. Course was in overall good condition and was not busy at all on a Saturday afternoon. Challenging, but not too difficult. I'm glad I spent the money and got a round in here. I'd put Royal Isabela ahead of this, but solid all around.

4 months agoExcellent place for enjoying sports. There two golf courses are challenging and in good condition. There are plenty of tennis and pickleball courts.
