The level of hospitality and patient care at this hospital is unacceptable. You come here expecting care, healing, and support—especially when dealing with serious health issues like surgeries or illness—but the experience was incredibly disappointing.
The patient room was dirty, with blood on the floor, which is completely unacceptable in any healthcare setting. Basic necessities like drinking water and extra towels were not provided—only one towel was available for the entire stay.
On top of that, patients and guests are forced to follow odd rules like not being allowed to wear shorts, yet the hospital can’t meet even the most basic hygiene and comfort standards. This is not a third-world country—patients should not have to beg for dignity and cleanliness.
The waiting area is extremely small with only five chairs, all of which are uncomfortable. There is no TV, no entertainment, and no accommodation for children. What are families supposed to do if they’ve traveled from out of town and have kids with them?
The overall client experience is awful. It seems like no thought was put into patient or family comfort. If you’re going to enforce strict rules, at least provide a clean, caring, and well-equipped environment.
Do not go to this ER if you care about your family member. The medical staff at the ER has no empathy or sense of urgency. My mom came in an ambulance and from the time we arrived to when she finally saw a doctor 6 hours had passed. She was admitted but did not get a room until 36 hours had passed. No food offered, no sheets, not even water. During her hospitalization when it was time for her pills she would be given just the pills with no water to take them. They said she is supposed to keep the only water bottle she is given with breakfast and make it last the whole day for the different medications. I was afraid to leave her alone for longer than a couple of minutes because nurses just said soon and never came into the room. She had an IV that was out of place and actually bleeding and the nurse made her wait 2 hours until she left so that the next nurse would fix the IV for my mom. The doctors that saw her once admitted were very good and the male nurses were all nice and helpful. For some reason the female nurses ignored us and were not empathetic at all. I would avoid this hospital in the future.
My father in law is here due to a blood clot in his foot. He has been in Bayamón Medical Center for two days. We just spoke with him. He say he has not seen a doctor or received food in two days. There is no reason for this. He's not having surgery. When I called the Nurses' Station to inquire about this I was hung up on. While I understand HIPAA, this is unacceptable to treat a patient this way.
4 nurses at the emergency room bay area and none of them can help me with changing my elderly dad’s soiled sheets! What they are doing? Talking!!! Medicaid patients can sue!
Service in the emergency room and in the room are just unacceptable. There is no empathy whatsoever for the patient. My mom, 92 years old fell and fractured her femur. She didn’t receive any pain medication for 3 days and once admitted to the room, you had to literally beg the nurses for them to give her pain medication which was supposed to be every 6 hours. It’s my 6 day in the hospital and the Orthopedic hasn’t came to see her, this is just insane!!!! Definitely will never return to this hospital again!!!!
