The only reason I rated this hospital to one star was because there were two people (husband and wife) working there who assisted my mother after she suffered a fall on rocks hitting her head while on vacation. The other aides and nurses lounged around in breakrooms and left multiple patients in the hall for hours. After the husband and wife left at 7 p.m., one of the nurses got upset that my wife located my mother and had us removed from the area. When my wife spoke with my mother, we found out she was sitting there for an hour. These people never cleaned her wounds, took blood, nor did they give a prescription or even check on her during our time there. Once the doctor read her results after more than 5 hours, she indicated that a nurse would help her. I feel bad for anyone going to this place, I am certain they have shown this type of neglect to higher degrees. Please be careful using this facility.
I have never had such a worst experience at a hospital until I came to this one. I took my 2 year old son to pediatric ER at 2 am for croup cough that wouldn't go away and congestión. We got admitted and everything. Never did I ever get an introduction to their name and title of the staff. Never got explanations of what will be done to my son. They have no empathy towards kids. I don't even understand why they work in the pediatric field because their bedside maner is horrible especially with little ones. The respiratory tech or therapist Alis or whatever her name was she was absolutely horrible. When she attended us, she didn't even tell us who she was and what she was doing. She did the procedure of nasopharyngeal suctioning, had me and my mother in law pin my son down to the bed as she proceeded to stick the tube all the way in my son's nose causing him to bleed. Which I understand can be normal, but she did it in such a vulgar manner. She handed me a 4x4 and was like he's hurt on the right side of his nose use this to clean up, with an attitude. My son was crying of pain, and he kept grabbing his nose and stick his finger up his nose because it hurt. She smacked his hand and said DONT DO THAT and looked at him with a nasty face. Let me remind you he is 2 years old! Like WHAT???? I told her a few things because I wasn't going to stand by and see someone treat my son like that infront of me. The ABSOLUTE WORST! Do not go here !
The nurses are rude and have no empathy for the patients. The ER physician that attended me was not informative. Lack of communication skills. It was my first time and I will never return to this hospital. If you value your life, do not get medically treated at Pavia Hospital Arecibo.
Hospital is very unorganized and staff seems very annoyed when asking questions on a patient. Pre admission took 7 1/2 hours to get completed. Patient needs to go from one department to another and wait one to two hours to be taken. This for an elderly patient is very long and stressful. Don’t understand why a patients information is not stored in a system that contains all the patients information . Nurses when they come in to take your vital are constantly asking the patient what they are in for, and they should know this if they are treating you. This whole system is a mess. If you have a loved one by all cost avoid this hospital. One last thing, if you are not on top of them to bring the patient their meals your loved one will also starve!
