For Americans, the hospital experience in Puerto Rico can be shocking because it's quite different than what we're used to. Due to the tropical weather, hurricanes, small operating budgets, etc. equipment
is old, rusty, scratched & dented, but functional. That aside, I can honestly say that my customer experience at this San Juan City Hospital has been excellent!! The loving kindness, patience, and personal assistance received at every level, by every person my mom & I encountered, is like nothing I've experienced before. They were truly angels!! I'll be forever grateful. 🙏❤️🙏
For those of you who identify as female, beware the municipal hospital visitors policies. As you can see in the photo, which is posted on the wall behind the sign in desk in the lobby, there is an extensive list of dress code rules for women vs the much shorter list for men. I am all for rules that will keep the patients safe from harm, infections and sanitation concerns, but let’s apply rules that are based on science and do not discriminate based on gender. One example - I observed in August 2024, several men walking in to this hospital wearing shorts that may qualify as dress shorts or casual shorts. (But not sport-specific). Women, apparently, cannot wear any kind or length of shorts in the hospital.

5 months agoSubstandard and dirty facilities. Rude staff as well. If given the choice, do not come here. It should be quite easy to find a better hospital.

a year agoNot a place I would want to be a patient of. We've turned against the future.
