Well you truly get what you pay for. Although everyone was really nice, I was not informed about any construction work going on. Every morning for four days straight, I was awaken to the sound of drilling, like early in the morning, about 7 am. Also, I had to climb and go under bars when someone was painting outside my room. There was also ants in the sink, which I didn't even bother to mention because I was already fed up.
I unfortunately had booked an entire week here after reading the reviews. It's clean on the inside and if you need a cheap place to stay, this is it, however; I would not necessarily recommend anyone stay here, especially without a car. There is nothing in the area really to check out on foot. You will need to take an Uber almost everywhere, and the places you would really want to go, are really far away. It's better to rent a car. I was grateful that I had a place to stay, but I was ready to go by the 3rd day.
If I happen to come back to Puerto Rico, I won't stay here again.
Got so lucky with this place! Clean, friendly and helpful with info on getting around and where was safest to go and when to go. Use of kitchen was nice. Prices are very reasonable and Henry's Guest House is located very near the train station and bus station so a car rental was not necessary. There are Ubers in the San Juan area and old town. Trains and buses extend a free pass to seniors. Made getting around so easy. John, thank you for my great opportunity to see your country and get to meet and talk with natives and come home with an understanding of life in Puerto Rico. I'm coming back to work on my spanish and eat ice cream when it is snowing here this winter!!
Great service that focuses on personal safety and comfort. Nice cozy atmosphere all around, including in and outside the premises. Definitely returning God willing.
