A visit to El Yunque wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Yokahú Tower, one of the best vantage points in the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. Standing at 1,575 feet above sea level, the tower offers a breathtaking 360 degree view that stretches from the lush green canopy below to the coastline in the distance.
The drive up is tight but scenic, winding through dense jungle and misty cloud layers that make you feel like you’re entering a hidden world. Once you reach the tower, a short climb up the spiral staircase rewards you with panoramic vistas of waterfalls, forested mountains, and the diverse, untouched beauty of Puerto Rico’s natural landscape.
What makes El Yunque so special is not just its beauty, but the ecosystem echos the coquí frogs and birds, and every visit feels like a chance to reconnect with nature on a deeper level.
Beautiful walk up tower with views of the surrounding mountains. You don’t need tickets or anything to go up, but surrounding parking spots may be limited during peak hours.
The view from this tower is breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting, it is free to access it.
Get ready to drive on a very narrow, twisty, and very scenic road.
It is tough to find parking on the weekends
Enjoyable quick stop going through the Rainforest. Great views at the top and a small workout on the way up. We didn’t buy tickets and we waited about 5 mins to park.
