A nice museum with lots of history. All the furniture in the house was original and it was gorgeous and well kept. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Entrance it's free of charge but it's always nice to tip the tour guides if you are able. We didn't make no reservations prior or visit but it's recommended for larger groups. They are located in front of the town square abd parking was easy to find.
Great historic landmark of Guayama. Maria de Jesus works here as an administrator and she gave me the tour. Amazing art decoration, and lots of history behind the walls, artifacts and art carved. Definitely something you need to do if you are here in the town of Guayama.
Free admision!! Awsome old house museum. Writes the history of Guayama development. Well kept and knowledgeable staff. Highly-rated for group visits looking for something different.
The tour guide was great. She definitely knew her history of the house. Only downside was we couldn't see the whole house becuase they had a private activity happening. Awesome historical site to one of the founding fathers of the city.
Casa Cautiño is truly a gem in Guayama, Puerto Rico! It's not just a house—it's a gateway to the past. As soon as you step into this stunning 19th-century mansion, you’re transported to a time when elegance and craftsmanship were celebrated in every corner of life. From its exquisitely detailed architecture to the antique furnishings, it offers visitors a glimpse into how Puerto Rico lived during its colonial times.
One of the most enchanting aspects of Casa Cautiño is how it captures the essence of that era. The intricate woodwork, elegant courtyards, and timeless decor all tell a story of refinement and tradition. It's not just about aesthetics; it feels like you’re walking through a piece of history, witnessing the lifestyle and culture of the time. The atmosphere is both serene and inspiring, allowing you to connect deeply with the heritage of the island.
Yet even over 100 years later, Puerto Rico remains a colony—a reality that continues to shape its identity and history. Casa Cautiño serves as a poignant reminder of the island's colonial heritage, while also inviting reflection on its ongoing status and future.
The museum’s caretakers have done an excellent job preserving the home and ensuring its legacy endures. The guided tours are particularly helpful—they offer rich insights into the Cautiño family and the broader history of Guayama. It's a must-visit destination for anyone curious about Puerto Rico’s past or simply seeking a place of beauty and inspiration.
