Excellent small museum with an attentive and informative bilingual docent. They have a friendly cat named Lily that sits in front of the door.
We left feeling inspired by such a strong woman’s legacy.
Sweet little museum dedicated to the first female politician of Puerto Rico. Free entry. Doesn’t take long to go through but the docent was very helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a stop.
Luis, the caretaker of the museum, is a wealth of knowledge and dedicated to all things Dona Fela. There wasn’t a question he didn’t answered. I even got the famous pics of Eastern Airlines delivering snow from the states, so children’s in San Juan could see it. I know Puerto Rico tourism board focuses on all things related to sun and beach activities, but I strongly believe it should put emphasis of famous figures and their legacy to the island. Kudos!!!!
Felisa Rincón was a very famous mayor of the city of San Juan. She is known for her love of children( she started the head start program in Puerto Rico ), for having brought snow to Puerto Rico, helping the impoverished, style & fashion, amongst many other things ( not to mention her mayoral skills.) This museum is situated in one of her domiciles, and it contains artifacts, furnishings, and documents of her life. The museum is free, although donations are encouraged, and the knowledgeable docents are eager to tell you all about this famous mayor of San Juan.
