The reserve is beautiful with a strong breeze off the water to cool you down. The breeze gets blocked by the trees in the walking paths. I would recommend doing this early as the sun bounces off the water and stones making it extra hot later in the day. It was a nice distance to the entire path and back. The "beach" is NOT a swimming beach due to the strong tide. It is best for sun soaking and relaxation. The beach was very clean.
This is a very nice place with a nice trail and signs along the beach. The mangroves are currently all dead unfortunately due to hurricane Maria and apparent salination of the lagoon - but in time they will recover. They have a nice observation tower too. Nice for a walk of 5k length.
Place was closed, instead we went to the Faro, which is part of the same reserve. Beautiful views from the lighthouse surroundings. The lighthouse itself is closed to visitors, but the area is beautifully kept. There are only a handful of parking spots, but it is not difficult to find where to park outside. The walking trails are nice, not too challenging, and there are signs and resting places in strategic locations. Highly recommended if you are looking for an easy walk with beautiful views.

6 years agoBeautiful beach in a nature reserve. Sign indicating swimming not allowed due to strong currents. Parking lot easy to miss.
