This park has lots of trails and is great for birdwatching. Unfortunately it is not very well maintained. The restrooms at the entrance were locked. We did find a handicap-accessible pit toilet at one of the picnic areas that was unlocked. The primary trail is made of concrete that is falling apart and largely eroded away, making it challenging to walk on at times. There was a lot of shade, which was nice. We saw some good birds.
Be ready to walk or bike. Bring snacks, water n a spray mist fan. Also baby wipes, sanitizer, soap to use bathrooms. Very big place. Beautiful yo walk and take pictures of all rare trees and amazing nature. Don’t carry nothing heavy. Be as light as you can. Enjoy the ride. Pls follow on IG photos by Wilma Hernandez
I love La Poza del Obispo. I spend as much time as I can here while visiting the island. To witness the Sea Turtle tracks to its nest then back to the sea is amazing. If you're here long enough you might see the eggs hatching and lil baby sea turtles make their way to the ocean. We truly ask the public to please, pick up after yourselves or anything you might help see on the ground, just toss in the trash receptacles. There is a Poza Lovers group that volunteers their time and clean up the beach and water almost daily and municipio also empties the receptacles daily. Its a team effort, as we like to welcome visitors to a clean safe beach to make new memories at. It's a beautiful place and El Faro Park is right next to La Poza. Keep in mind there are no lifeguards, gazeebos or public restroom. #pleasetakeyourtrash
I spent about 4 years of my youth very near this very peaceful forest. The beautiful house I stayed in had also a small country mini-store, and it belonged to my late uncle & aunt Papo & Ana. All is left is an empty old house, lovely memories, and the mural in the wall of the store you're watching in the photo. God bless their hearts.
