Awesome experience! I recommend going in the 9am period because it’s “less hot”. Bring plenty of water and come in sneakers and cool clothes. It’s beautiful and we were able to finish it in 2.5 hours.
Will definitely come back.
La Marquesa, for whatever reason, does not seem to be a popular tourist destination for people visiting PR. It definitely should be however. Only 25 minutes outside of San Juan, La Marquesa should definitely be on your to do list. The views on the mountain are fantastic and the birds are comfortable getting close enough to you for pictures. Highly recommend taking time out of your day to drop by La Marquesa.
Perfect for toddlers. It was an hour drive from our location in Humacao. The place is really nice and affordable. It was cool and wind get amazing. Highly recommend this for families with younger kids. Also stop by the Greenville for lunch. only 4 minutes away and food is amazing
This place took me some years in finding after being to PR many many times. It can get a bit hectic going back to your car to catch a shuttle bus but we enjoyed ourselves. There’s a neat bird aviary as well as a butterfly sanctuary. If you are into enjoying peaceful views this might be a place to visit. If you have little ones there’s several different playgrounds for them to burn energy.
Beautiful place, surrounded by nature. You can instantly feel the temperature lower inside the forest. It is very well organized. It is very affordable. The staff is friendly. They have a great variety of food and beverages in the cantina kitchen. Wish there were more to see at the Butterfly Lab, but the Aviary is impressive. Lots of parrots, flamingos, and some of them are resting on the walkway, so you can take photos pretty up close. The play areas for kids with the gazebos are a great addition. You can bring your own food and snacks and have a picnic there and let the kids burn some energy on the playground. One of the best things is the ride in the Gondolas. It is a nice refreshing ride if you want to rest for a couple of minutes, with an amazing view of the forest and the city. But if heights aren't your thing, the train can take you to all the stops too. The watchtower was closed due to bees or hornets or something like that. But when open, you can see the forest, the mountains and the coast from up there. There is also a man made waterfall along one of the paths. Overall, it is a great place to go with family and spend time in nature walking on the paths, riding the train, the gondola, learning and interacting with birds and nature. It can be all done in half a day.
