I’ve been coming here for years, and what kept me coming back was the seafood pizza — always on point. Unlike the soggy, watery mess most places serve and call “seafood pizza,” theirs used to have a perfectly crispy crust, no liquid runoff, and bold, delicious flavor. You could actually eat it with your hands — no fork, no fuss.
But this time? Total letdown. The seafood pizza was a flavorless, watery mess that soaked the crust and fell apart. Not what I remember at all.
To make matters worse, the service was just as disappointing. After getting served, I was pretty much forgotten — no check-in, no follow-up. I eventually had to walk over to the bar just to ask for the bill.
This used to be a great spot. Unfortunately, it’s not anymore.
If you are around Old San Juan and pass by Bari, you might miss the greatness because the entrance is long (I posted a picture from the inside so you see what I mean)! This was not my first time at this place, last year (I wasn’t doing reviews at the time) I stopped by for some Original Mojitos and they were great.
I wanted pizza and so dropped in for hello… some Original Mojitos and ordered an Eggplant Parm Pizza as it was something different to find on a pizza menu.
The pizza was delicious! I spoke to Joshua (the bartender) and requested the kitchen to cut the pizza in 8 instead of 4. I found the pizza to be too heavy to juggle a big slice which got messy. If the kitchen listens, the experience will be way better and easy to handle which is a win for both parties.
When I arrived the place had two parties on the lower section, by the time I left, the place was hoping!!! Great vibe with indoor (a/c) and outdoor seating.
Aside from that, this is a Valdi approved joint!
Bari is a hidden gem! In the 6 days we were in PR, we stopped there three times, all in the evening. No wait for seating. I might not have gone here if a friend who lived in PR said Bari was her favorite pizza place. We all agreed that she was absolutely right!! We had Clasica, Hawaii Pizza, Meat Lovers, and Provolone & Ham. All were delicious! The cheeseburgers were very good. Mofongo = delicious! Bistec Encebollado was melt in your mouth! The staff was so much fun! Drinks were delish!
Gorgeous place, perfect for lunch on a rainy day. The small pizzas are actually enormous! My kiddo adored the mozzarella pizza. I loved the seafood pizza. And my husband was delighted with his veggie mofongo. Fish nuggets also awesome. Garlic bread was fine - lots of cheese. Best pina colada my husband has ever had. My mojito didn’t taste like much but hit like a truck. Best meal we’ve had so far on the island!
Coming from Connecticut I didn’t have high expectations. I can’t ever find good pizza while traveling, and yes I know why would I travel to try pizza. I wanted to satisfy my craving and this place exceeded my expectations. The crust was so flavorful and it was well cooked, very sturdy. The large pizza was more than enough for two people maybe even three.
