While in Puerto Rico we wanted to support the movement for food sovereignty through sustainable farm to table dining and it led us to Verde Mesa which was an incredible dining experience. The moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted with boisterous conviviality and an ambiance that was cozy, creative, and full of personality. The Local Tomato Salad was excellent, even our 16 year old was surprised how much he liked it because he usually doesn't eat tomatoes. Vegan friendly menu. The Verde Mesa Rice was a really standout dish and the guys loved the Purple Cloud dessert. This is a restaurant I can't wait to go back to.
Verda Mesa is an absolute gem in San Juan! This farm-to-table restaurant delivers not only fresh, flavorful dishes but also an exceptional dining experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting with a romantic charm. The decor strikes a beautiful balance between rustic elegance and cozy comfort. Every ingredient tasted thoughtfully sourced, and the presentation was stunning. The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can feel the care in every detail, from the atmosphere to the plate. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food with a local touch.
One of my favorite experiences in San Juan. They dont take reservations so you’ll have to call on the day of to “join the waiting list” via an automated voice machine (whatsapp-ing them doesn’t work).
We ordered 3 appetizers, 2 mains, and 2 desserts for 2 adults and 1 child. Our favorite dishes were the torched scallops (appetizer), lamb (main), and purple cloud (dessert). We also got the cucumber salad, mangu, pork cheek stew, and coconut tremble. Portions were very generous and we left feeling full but not heavy as all ingredients tasted fresh and high quality.
It felt pretty tourist-heavy, but the vibe was pleasant and the interior decor was so fun and interesting. Service was also great as staff was lovely and attentive. Hangry child was smiling by the end of the meal. Great experience, would visit again!
Wonderful farm-to-table restaurant with eclectic global dishes. Great service. Great view; sit by the windows if you can. NOTE: They charge you $3.50 per person for their unlimited self-bottled water (still or sparkling).
My new favorite place in Old San Juan! How did I not know about this fabulous place before??? Excellent service, amazing ambiance and the food is to die for! I happened to stop in on a Tuesday for lunch and was promptly seated and served by the most lovely people —Pedro and Christina. This made my day! If you’re in Old San Juan and you miss the opportunity to dine here, you have truly missed out. If I could give more than 5 stars, they would get 11! ❤️
