Aquatica Underwater Adventures

Had a wonderful experience diving with Damian and another great experience with Gina. Everyone in the shop was super friendly and had great recommendations for what dives to do. The gear was exceptionally well maintained. It is also higher quality brands such as ScubaPro, and other well known brands: Tusa, Cressi, and Mares to name a few. It isn't cheap crappy rental gear. The tanks had what is probably the best fill in the entire Caribbean. It's not easy to get a good tank fill in this heat! We did our first dives today at Desecheo Island, a protected island and marine reserve. There is nothing is quite as great as a boat dive. Our first dive was deep. We saw tons of gigantic lobster, nurse sharks, porcupine fish, barracuda, and my spirit fish the Fairy Basslet. We found some invasive lionfish which were quickly dispatched and removed from the area. This attracted the interest of an exceptionally friendly, if not well mannered nurse shark. It didn't know we weren't supposed to touch it, and frankly it kept trying to get a kiss.... Right in front of my wife! Not the most discreet nurse (shark) I've ever met. Dive two was a shallower dive in and amongst the swim throughs and canyons which seem to permeant the island. This allowed for some fantastic photo opportunities with dramatic back drops and a hint of red and yellow. I'm going to update this after a few more dives. We weren't planning on spending our entire vacation diving.... But definitely changed after our first experience. We are meeting them again tomorrow so that we can get our 10 and 12 year old blowing bubbles. Damian and the rest of the shop made us feel so comfortable. I'm excited to have my kids pick up their passion and love for diving. (Success!) We also were able to get recommendations for food and other things to do around the area. Everything has been spot on so far. Update: Went to Crash Boat Beach with Gina so that my kids could discover diving. We had great dives, my daughter was especially stoked after the dive. We saw lots of tarpon and a green sea turtle.

Gina and Jesse are AMAZING!!!! My girlfriend and I just got our open water scuba certification under their guidance and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Neither of us had ever scuba’d before, and honestly, I’m not even that big of a fan of water/swimming. But Gina and Jesse really helped with all our anxiety and took the time to go at OUR pace and comfort level, comfortably guiding us to take on more with each dive. Both Gina and Jesse were super knowledgeable and experienced (I think Gina has something like over 3,000 dives). They helped us gain confidence under the water answering all our questions and making sure we had a mastery of all the skills. Best of all though, our dives were insane! We saw a TON of animal life including a spotted stingray, turtles, octopuses, and of course, heaps of gorgeous fish! The dive sites were all amazing with beautiful with coral reef, a collapsed pier to swim through, and natural rock tunnels/caves to explore. It blew my mind. On one of the days the conditions weren’t ideal so instead of forcing us to dive, Gina said we could reschedule to a different day so that we’d be able to see more as a recent rain storm was kicking up sand and allege. I really appreciated her focus on giving us an optimal experience vs trying to rush us through even though she’d already blocked the day for us. Lastly, both Gina and Jesse were just super awesome people. Upbeat, positive, fun and easygoing. They even hung out with us after our dives at some of their favorite bars, beaches and restaurants. I will definitely be back to get my advanced open water with them. Oh - and all the folks we met at Aquatica were amazing too. The gear was all well cared for in top notch shape and you could tell their focus was on sharing their passion for scuba as opposed to driving sales. These people just love diving and want others to experience it too. Highly recommend!

I am so happy to get my diving certification at this place. Damian was a great instructor, hard-working, and dedicated during the training. He was very passionate and patient. I love my experiences during the process, the excursions are great and super fun! Love it

Gina and Roean were amazing! I called a few days prior, because a dive with another company (in San Juan) was canceled due to visibility, and they were able to answer all my pre-booking questions and fit us in when we went out towards the western coast of PR. I have advanced open water diver, but it was my 10yo daughter's first dive. Gina was very patient and helped ensure that all her questions were answered (there were a lot!) and all anxieties allayed. All alliteration aside, it was a great dive experience for both my daughter and me! My wife and younger daughter (7yo) did the snorkel experience at the same time, and got to see us diving below! Roean was totally chill, and made my daughter feel very comfortable in the water (despite her not wanting to use the snorkel). They even brought out a little raft for her to hold onto so she could just peek down whenever she felt most comfortable! They took photos and video (included in the price!) Aquatica Underwater Adventures went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, and we really appreciate it! (They even showed us a great lunch spot afterwards!)

Amazing time doing my open water certification with Aquatica!! I recommend for beginners and advanced divers, as they are so patient, always making sure you understand everything, have up to date equipment, and prioritize safety at every level. Thank you to Gina and the team for a great and educational time. I can’t wait to be back 🩷
