This snorkeling tour with Black Beard Sports was absolutely perfect! From start to finish, everything was handled with so much care and fun — it ended up being a highlight of our trip to Puerto Rico.
Our tour guide, Lulu, was hands-down the most fun and energetic guide I’ve ever met. She made the entire experience a delight for me, my husband, and our four kids. Her energy was contagious, and she made everyone feel excited and comfortable.
Some of the extra touches that made this tour stand out:
My son wears glasses, and Lulu immediately took him into their shop to find a prescription snorkel mask that fit him perfectly. He was so excited to be able to see clearly underwater — no other company we've used has ever thought to offer that!
We saw turtles, sharks, sting rays, and tons of colorful tropical fish. My kids were in absolute heaven.
They were super thoughtful about the little things — helping with foggy masks, offering snacks and water after the tour, and making sure everyone felt cared for the entire time.
One small heads-up: the van ride to the bay is a little bumpy, so if you're prone to motion sickness, definitely take some Dramamine beforehand.
Highly recommend this tour and especially Lulu — she turned an already cool experience into an unforgettable one!
Highly recommend Blackbeard Sports for the bio bay tour. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Our guides were really down to earth and very interactive with our group. They were also very knowledgeable and knew the science behind the bio bay. We all had so much fun. Watching the fish take off in the water looked like bolts of lightning. The clear bottom kayaks added to the magic.
We had an awesome time with Haley! She made sure we knew how to put together our gear as we are a bit newer to diving. The first dive was fun but the second was incredible. We saw 5 turtles, a ray, 2 nurse sharks, some eels and lobsters all at the same time! We kept trying to get each other’s attention to point out the cool things we were seeing. Definitely recommend Black Beard! They also responded to our dive request immediately, another shop we reached out to twice and never heard back at all. Pro tip, stop by the Panderia for a quick breakfast before
I had the best experience with Black Besrd Sports and specifically JJ, one of the tour guides. My friend and I decided to impulsively go on an adventure while staying here in PR for the week and decided to go to Culebra in the morning and Vieques in the afternoon/night. We landed on going to Mosquito Bay to see the bioluminescence just before we had to get back to the ferry to get home. We walked from the ferry port to Mosquito Bay, which took over an hour, then, waiting for the sun to set, we asked if we could take out kayaks before we had to be picked up by a taxi we met at the ferry port. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go kayaking due to timing restrictions, but while waiting for over 30 minutes for our taxi to show up, my friend and I decided to run back to the port. Just then, JJ asked if we were okay and if we needed a ride back to Isabella, a town just next to the port. Fortunately, my flip flop had just broken, so his timing was impeccable. JJ was so nice and friendly in the carride, and he even gave us water when we arrived at the port. Thank you JJ
We booked a biobay tour at 8:15. Josue (JJ) drove us to mosquito bay from isabella II. We were a little late, but JJ was exteremely kind and very accomadating as he called and waited for us before departing to pick up the other passangers at esperanza. He was extremely personable and very charismatic. He mentioned being the tour guide for the snorkling tours of punta arenas. My only regret from our stay on vieques was not booking the snorkling tour with blackbeard and specifically with him.
Our tour guides were also extremely personable. We were lucky as the dinoflagellates were out in full glow for our tour on this night. That being said I highly recommend booking the tour with blackbeard as the guides (Nick and Ryan) were also very personable and spoke to us not just about the ins and outs of the dinoflagellates but the history(and ecology) of vieques.
The experience was a 10/10, highly recommend.
