I have personally never been to Japan but if this is it - sign me up! This was one of the best meals I have had all year. Service was perfection and it was just an overall great experience.
This place, this place was EXCELLENT. There truly aren’t many spots in the island that get my attention from the first bite. This one right here, a little hole in the wall, did it without even trying.
The atmosphere is calm even when the place was packed, very attentive staff that know and love what they’re doing because it shows in every single dish they prepared for us that night.
For appetizers, we ordered the KANI CREAM KÓROKKE (creamy crab croquettes) and the ÁGEDASHI (silken tofu in dashi broth). Both simple yet beautifully made.
After that, we had the KATSU DON set (Breaded pork loin in soy broth, egg, onion, & green onions over a bed of white rice) and the KATSU KARĒ set (Breaded pork loin over white rice and beef curry). This is the type of food you go for when you want to warm your soul, it was a rainy Saturday and it offered the comfort we were looking for.
We finished the night with dessert, a KURÓ GOMÁ PURIN (Black sesame panacotta with sweet cream on top). It was nice, light and simple, the perfect dish to end the night on a sweet note after the feast we just had.
All of this was accompanied by Japanese beers (ECHIGO KOSHIHIKARI) and cocktails (KARÁ’RITA) that complemented the dishes and the ambiance in perfect harmony.
A good friend of my partner suggested this place and we both agreed it was the best meal we had in San Juan from the past 3 days visiting the city. Knowledgeable, prompt, kind and professional service. The food was delicious! It’s described as a Japanese soul food. You have to get the set to your selection because it’s great tasty bits to accompany the main protein. I would highly recommend this place for dinner. I would definitely come back if I was visiting the area.
Everything was perfect from the vibe, service, and food. The vibe was so chill and transported you to Japan. Service was excellent and it was nice to see that everyone (from customers to employees) all seemed happy to be there and having a good time. Nicol was so friendly, professional, and helpful, there's a reason why she's been with them since the opening of their restaurant. Food was superb and felt authentic and home-y.
Perfect little mom and pop shop that HAS to be one of your stops in San Juan.
KEMURI is an outstanding Japanese Fusion Restaurant that I had the pleasure of visiting during my vacation in Puerto Rico. The food was truly exceptional, and it stood out as some of the best I had during my entire trip. The staff was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make the dining experience enjoyable. The owners, a husband and wife team working in the kitchen, have a beautiful story that adds to the restaurant's charm. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful both the food and staff are. If you're a local or traveler, I highly recommend KEMURI for an unforgettable experience! Our waiter, pictured below was AMAZING! Thank you so much.
