Outstanding view but the experience was a disappointment. We were expecting to be wowed given the price, however the housekeeping staff were rude questioning us when asked for towels since there were none in the room at check in. It’s a simple request all that had to be said is we’ll bring it in right away period end of story. The hotel is riddled with stray cats as they feed them, one of them almost got into our room as we’re trying to get our luggage in. We love cats but not something I want in this beautiful setting because it made the whole area smell bad. The room itself was not bad but there is no hot water. Which I didn’t mind at first since it’s so hot out. However, we were there for our wedding and we could not enjoy the hot tub in our honeymoon suite because the water was cold. The breakfast provided was subpar and we had an almost 2 hour wait before receiving our food for dinner. After an hour the waiter asked us to choose other menu items as they ran out of ingredients. We were then told there was only 1 chef in the kitchen however the waiter should’ve have been more communicative as we almost walked out. The food was not worth that wait. I will say the waiter Javier then made efforts to amend the situation by comping a few drinks and dessert; we were very appreciative of that. We did return for dinner with our waiter Javier and the experience was much better the second time. What we did love were the pools and bar with dj.

The location is very good, the view from the swimming pool is very good, and the sea is behind the hotel. The only downside is that the blanket in the closet is dirty and smelly. The room is a bit old but clean overall. There is free breakfast, free parking, and a two-bed room for about $150 a day. I also made friends with the hotel's dog, and she accompanied me for a walk on the beach. The overall feeling is good.

I am not sure how this hotel got more than 3 stars. Then only positive I can tell about the hotel is the view. Other than that, the place needs a lot of work. When we got there to check in, the lobby was closed and we had to wait for someone to come and help us. The lobby area looks presentable. But as soon as we entered the place, it was a disappointment. The hallway was ful of cats, the smell of cat feces and urine was disgusting. The room was dirty. The bed only had bedsheets, no bed cover. There were some blankets in the closet, but, by the smell, you can tell they don’t wash them after the clients leave. Who knows how many people used those blankets before us! A lot of people have mentioned the hot water, they are right, no hot water in our room either. My husband started getting allergies, and he checked the A/C, and that thing was full of mold. I feel they charge a lot of money for the service you get. I don’t recommend this place at all. They definitely photoshop the pictures they have on their website, because the rooms don’t look as they show in the website. Save your money and go somewhere else!

This place is a mixed bag. It's location is excellent! It is so beautifully set right by the ocean, with access to the beach and trails. That is the best part, and it's hard to beat that aspect. Rooms were clean, but here's the downside: There was a lot that needs attention. Hot water did not work at all. The air-conditiner, though functional, was broken and made an obnoxious rattling noise constantly. Also, the electrical outlets in half of the room did not work at all. They advertise a restaurant, but it has such inconistent fluxuating hours that its hard to depend on. Their cafe is pretty much nonexistant. You just ask the front desk if you want to purchase some Bimbo-type packaged item. Most of the resort bulding feels abanonded and neglected. It's a strange vibe, but because of it's beautiful location, secure parking, and acceptable rooms with ocean views, I would probably stay here again. I just have had to modify my expectations.

Very Disappointed with My Stay I had a very unpleasant experience at Hotel El Guajataca. When I arrived, I was given a dirty room. The floor had hair all over it, and the bathroom mirror was absolutely filthy. I immediately went to the front desk to report the issue, and they told me someone would come to clean it — but no one ever showed up. I even showed them pictures as proof, and they said they would notify the manager. However, to this day, I have not received any follow-up or apology from anyone at the hotel. This level of service is unacceptable, and I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone.
